Weird Chromatic Aberrations

Weird Chromatic Aberration 100% Crop

On a trip to the local shipyard I've done a few shots of my girlfriend in front of the main building. Upon processing the photos I got really shocked by the amount of C/A, never seen such a thing before with my apochromatic lens.

I know that even APO doesn't mean complete perfection, but the chromatic aberration took whole ten pixels of the cable. Then I looked at the other parts of the image, all those small details with sky behind... C/A everewhere else was real slight. And the cable looked weird also when in much less contrast.

This is still an open problem, although explanation below is somewhat convincing. Any further proofs/counterarguments or some theoretic background would be welcome.

I asked on pl.rec.foto.cyfrowa what this might mean. The answer came from Radosny. It turns out that despite the characteristic colour, this in fact is no aberration. The cables are made of copper, totally out of focus, and when mixed with blue sky we get a violet outcome. The same thing happens when put on yellow building and green leaves. The lesson: things are not always what they seem to be.

By the way, the whole photo:
